Promotions By Mail started in the early 80’s. At that time, the sole focus was to service local businesses’ mailing needs. In 2002, while running our list processing business (Keystone List Services) we acquired Promotions By Mail and merged the two together. The combination of both businesses moved us forward in enabling us to deliver data-driven mailing solutions. During the 2000’s changes in how mail was being processed were occurring within the United States Postal Service. It was no longer enough to just put labels on mail pieces or add a bar code. The Postal Service mandated all data to be processed and entered into their system to get the best discounts on postage currently available and eventually introduced the Intelligent Mail Bar Code. We began to realize the opportunity to offer customized printing solutions to help customers with their mailing needs. Turns out, it was a great combination! Since that time, we have grown to a full-service Commercial Printer and a Mail Service provider.
Today, we remain a full-service printer and full-service mail service provider servicing Bucks and Montgomery counties and the surrounding areas. We are a family business that takes pride in all that we do. We provide the same commitment, dedication and attention to detail to our customers as we want for ourselves!
OUR TEAM
Jim McGowan – President
Jim’s computer and data background started while studying Computer Science at Drexel University. His first co-op job was with a magazine publisher in Philadelphia. It was there that his skills took off and he found his niche. He worked in the data center, programming, data processing departments and learned everything that went into producing, printing and mailing a magazine with 400 versions for over 1.2 million subscribers. Continuing in the printing and publishing field, he spent many years managing staff at several publishers and commercial printers locally as well as, Philadelphia and New York. All of that translated perfectly into Promotions By Mail. Now, with over 40 years of direct mail and database management experience, Jim is able to offer customers of Promotions By Mail his unique talents!
Jim’s partner in work is his partner in life too! They have been together for over 40 years and have been working together for over 25. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, disc golfing, traveling, watching the Flyers, and woodworking.
Helen McGowan – Vice President
Helen started with Promotions By Mail almost accidentally! She is a Commerce and Engineering graduate from Drexel University and went on to work in the computer field after college. Three little girls later, most of her time was spent raising her family. However, in 2002, an unlikely conversation with a business broker led to the blending of the list processing company Jim had started up with Promotions By Mail and little by little the mailing business just got under her skin. Today, her time is spent managing printing and mailing jobs, communicating with customers, accounts receivables and estimating projects. She’s never looked back!
Helen and Jim have been together for over 40 years. Working together and living together came naturally. Some people think they are crazy, but they just see it as an extension of their relationship. In her free time, it gives her the greatest joy to spend time with their 3 children, son in laws, 6 grandchildren, and the rest of her family and friends. She also enjoys crocheting, listening to audiobooks, traveling, baking and ice hockey.
Dave Boucher – Customer Care Representative
Dave joined Promotions By Mail in the fall of 2022 and anybody who knows him, knows he loves the Beatles. He is an accomplished musician and can talk adagio to waltz. Prior to working in the print field, Dave worked in the paper industry. There he gained his knowledge about paper – texture, size, paper weight and which paper works best for specific projects. All his work in the paper field made printing an easy transition. Dave has over 25 years of printing experience and can answer all your questions about paper, printing and of course the Beatles. He is a married father of three children, has a cat and a dog, and loves travelling, history and music!
Percy (Perseverance as he is formally known)
Percy was found outside, in a box on a frigid December day late 2016. Clearly someone had put him out with the intention of never having him come back. Jim found him and brought him home. The vet estimated his age at 6 months. Unfortunately, Percy did not get along well with his sisters so the best solution to keeping them apart while keeping him safe was to make him our office cat. If you have met him, you know he loves visitors, mail trays and paper boxes! Stop by and ask him about printing & mailing – he’s seen it all!!!
